When Amity was 18 months young we took her to the Siem Reap, and as the years went by we realised that we wanted Halo to see the magic and taste the ice cream of Cambodia too. The FCC in Siem Reap is a wonderful place to explore Angkor Wat. We stayed one night at the Quay hotel in Phnom Penh then drove up to Siem Reap. The road is under construction and so it was a 7 hour ordeal - the last time we went it was a leisurely 4 hour drive.
The 5 days that we had in Siem Reap made it all worthwhile. We toured the temples, saw silk worms start the process of making fine thread for beautiful clothing, and watched Phare, Cambodia's answer to Cirque de Soleil. We thought it would be too physical for Amity and Halo who cried, clapped and eventually hugged the performers; but they cried out to go a second night. We couldn't face the return by car and flew instead from the new international terminal in Siem Reap to Phnom Penh and then directly to Beijing via Guangzhou.
