Morgan cars China opens showroom in Qingdao

Ian Lockhart, UKTI, launches Bespoke Car brand in Shandong Province 9 December 2013: Beijing,China. Morgan Cars China has opened the first showroom in Qingdao, Shandong province, China. Guest of Honour Mr. Ian Lockhart, First Secretary (Trade and Investment) of the UK Trade & Investment Department of the British Embassy, formally opened the 320 m2 showroom in the 20 Yinchuan West Road, Shinan district of the seaside town Qingdao on 7th December at a gathering attended by local dignitaries, media and Morgan car enthusiasts." Qingdao Opening Jia Jun Ying Jie Auto Sales is the Authorised Dealer in Shandong province for Morgan Motor Company vehicles, parts and merchandise and is registered as such with the State Administration of Industry and Commerce (SAIC). The showroom on Yinchuan West Road has been fully renovated and has on display two Plus 4 models, which had made the 8,000 km journey from Malvern, Worcester, England. These are the first Morgan cars to reach Shandong in the 104-year history of the Morgan Motor Company. British Ambassador Sebastian Wood opened the first showroom in Beijing in June 2013. China overtook Europe in vehicle sales in 2012, and the United States in 2009. Sales of passenger vehicles increased 6.8% to 14.68 million units in 2013. By contrast Morgan produces a niche luxury car, each one hand built to order. The cars have passed the necessary inspections required for registration for license plates in cities across China.
